Designing and building your home is a journey, and I’ll be with you every step of the way. Here’s what to expect when you work with HellBent.
Initial Consultation
STEP ONE
GETTING TO KNOW YOU AND YOUR VISION
We’ll start with an in-depth conversation about your vision, lifestyle, and priorities. I’ll ask questions about how you actually live. Where do you spend your mornings? How often do you entertain and where? What views matter most to you? This is the time to get all your dreams on the table. Nothing is too small or too big. I want to know what you want so we can make it happen.
We’ll also discuss the nitty-gritty details like your budget, timeline, site opportunities and constraints, and what a successful project looks like to you. This conversation helps me create a clear roadmap for your project and ensures that we’re aligned from the beginning.
Conceptual Design & Planning
STEP TWO
EXPLORING POSSIBILITIES TOGETHER
Based on our initial conversations, I’ll develop sketches and concepts that respond to your needs, your site, and your aspirations. HellBent is just me, Jamie Broadbent, so you can be certain that our first conversations will translate to the initial sketches and your overall design. I’ll present various design options and bring fresh, risk-taking ideas that you may not have considered—such as unexpected ways to capture natural light or creative solutions to challenging site conditions.
We’ll refine the concept together, iterating based on your feedback until we land on something that genuinely excites you and matches your vision. You’ll receive 3D visualizations so you can walk through the space virtually and see yourself living there before we finalize the design.
From our designs, I’ll create detailed architectural drawings so your builder knows exactly what we’re creating together. I’ll coordinate with your builder to ensure your custom details are constructed in line with our vision.
Construction Partnership
STEP THREE
STAYING INVOLVED WHEN IT MATTERS MOST
During construction, I provide hands-on oversight to keep your project on track and ensure that the design is being followed to the letter. I’ll visit the site regularly, review the work in progress, and address any issues immediately as they arise.
Construction always brings unexpected challenges, such as a site condition we didn’t anticipate, a material that’s no longer available, or a detail that needs adjustment in the field. As your single point of contact, I’m able to act quickly, evaluating these changes and how they affect the overall design before providing solutions that keep your project moving forward without compromising the vision.
The Final Touches
STEP FOUR
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
As the project progresses, I’ll coordinate with additional consultants like landscape architects to ensure your home feels complete and completely yours. All the while, we’ll be working together on the interior design of your new home or addition. That means coordinating interior finishes, selecting lighting fixtures, integrating landscape elements, and executing any of those custom features we’ve designed together.
When the builders are finished, I’ll do a final walkthrough to ensure that everything meets both of our standards. We’ll address my punch list items and make sure you understand how to operate and maintain the high-performance systems in your home. At this time, it’s my goal to make sure that you’re completely and totally satisfied with the new home or addition that we’ve created together.
